SSI Editor-in-Chief Invited to Speak at the 2026 Frontier Technology Conference

The 5th Frontier Technology Conference 2026 was held in Beijing on September 12, 2026, as a thematic forum of the 2026 China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). Under the theme “Emerging Technologies Shaping New Quality Productive Forces · Future Industries Driving Sustainable Development,” the conference brought together academicians, researchers, experts, and industry representatives to exchange perspectives on frontier technologies, innovation, technology transfer, and sustainable development.
The conference received a video address from Academician Ouyang Ziyuan, Chinese Chair of the 2026 Frontier Technology Conference, the first Chief Scientist of China’s Lunar Exploration Program, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the International Academy of Astronautics, and Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences. In his address, Academician Ouyang highlighted the importance of maintaining a strong commitment to scientific research and pursuing continued innovation to address major technological and industrial challenges.
Professor Teck-Peng Loh, Editor-in-Chief of Sustainable Science and Innovation (SSI), Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Sciences, and Professor at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, was invited to attend the conference and deliver a keynote presentation.
His presentation, titled “Sustainable Science and Innovation: Advances in Therapeutics, Circular Plastics and Green Agriculture,” explored recent advances and emerging opportunities in three areas closely connected to sustainable development: therapeutics, circular plastics, and green agriculture.
Professor Loh highlighted the importance of translating scientific advances into practical solutions and discussed how innovation in these areas can contribute to technological progress, industrial transformation, and long-term sustainability.
During the conference, Professor Loh also introduced Sustainable Science and Innovation, including its founding vision and key areas of research, and welcomed researchers working in related fields to engage with the journal.
The conference provided an important platform for dialogue among the scientific, academic, and industrial communities and highlighted the growing connections between frontier research, technological innovation, future industries, and sustainable development.
